Structural and Content Analysis of Mohammad Reza Hakimi's Ode Naqamat al-Ashvaq

Message:
Abstract:
From the beginning up to now, literature and the language of poem are the means used by political and ideological movements. In this regard, Shiite struggles and revolutions during the time of the Omayyad and Abbasside played an important role in the development and enrichment of Shiite literature, especially in the field of poetry. Since Ashura up to now, many Shiite poets said poetry in the praise of infallible Imams (A.S.), among them is Mohammad Reza Hakimi. He composed several odes in Arabic of which the most important is Naqamat al-Ashvaq. In his ode, Hakimi praised infallible Imams (A.S.), especially Imam Reza (A.S.), during which he represented the Islamic social and political system to the readers. The present research is an attempt to study the content and structural aspects of the above-mentioned ode based on a descriptive-analytic approach. Some of the results obtained from the research are as follows: the poet uses thoughts and imagery along with his purpose in composing the poem, that is, emphasizing on infallible Imams’ rightfulness and praising them; hence, the ode enjoys unity of theme and thought cohesion, and the poet adds up the text consolidation by using devices such as grammatical and lexical coherence.
