The Effectiveness of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction on Mother-Child Interaction among Mothers with Intellectually Disabled Children

Abstract:
Objective
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of training mindfulness- based stress reduction on mother-child interaction (acceptance, supporting, leniency and rejection) among mothers with intellectually disabled children.
Method
Because of the applied goals and data collection procedures of the study, its design was decided to be a quasi-experimental (pre-test and post-test in compare with control group). The population of this study consists of mothers with intellectually disabled primary school students in Ardabil in 2012. 48 mothers of children with intellectually disabled children were randomly selected and then divided into two random groups.
Results
The results show that training of mindfulness-based stress reduction is effective in improving mother-child interaction.
Conclusion
The findings suggest that mindfulness-based stress reduction can improve mother-child interaction in these situations.
