Analyzing the Relation between Religious Orientation and Personality Traits in Islamic Azad University and Payame Noor Students (Damghan City)

The paper focuses on the relationship between the religious orientation and personality traits in Islamic Azad university and payame noor students of Damghan. The method is correlation and the statistical community of this study included students, (boys &girls) of Azad university and payame noor(Damghan city) in academic year 1392-93.. the sample of the research is 250 students who are selected using simple random sampling. Data Collection tool is well-arranged questionnaire. Religious orientation test and neo personality test (5 major personality factors) is used as the tools of the research. The results of the T test indicate no significant relationship between two sexes (men &women) in religious (faithfulness) structure (P> 0/05). There is also no difference between the two universities due to their attitude toward religion (faithfulness) (P> 0/05). Pearson correlation coefficient shows negative correlation between faithfulness and mental irritation personality (P< 0/001).there is also a positive correlation between religious (faithfulness) structure and extroversion personality traits, loyalty and agreement (P< 0/001).other results of the present research indicate no significant correlation between faithfulness and students flexibility trait. (P> 0/05).at the end of the study loyalty is proved to be the best predictor variable for faithfulness. The authors of the article conclude: 1- there is no relationship between faithfulness of students and their sex and university.2- religious people are more extroverted, more loyal and enjoy the benefit of more mental health.
