Some Strategies to Foster the Student's Critical Thinking, with Emphasis on the Role of Faculty Members

Abstract:
One of the important roles of faculty is training students as those who are wise, analyst and critical thinkers, not to move knowledge and skills to novice consumers, only. In this research, the problem is the lack of enough information and skills about critical thinking among most of the university faculty, which causes them not to teach critical thinking to the students, effectively. The purpose of this study is providing an appropriate framework and some strategies to improve educational programs in the universities to foster the student's critical thinking. This is an applied research. The data collection method is documentary method and the research method is descriptiveanalytical one. According to the study, four fundamental steps were introduced to foster the student’s critical thinking and some strategies were offered for each of these steps in details.
