Comparison of Attendance and Virtual Students from Information Literacy Competencies Perspective

Abstract:
Introduction
The main purpose of this study is comparing information literacy competencies of attendance students with virtual students.
Methods
The research method is descriptive – survey one. The statistical population was all virtual and attendance students of Tehran university. 327 attendance and 205 virtual students were selected by using the random categorization method based on kerjecie and morgan table.in order to collect data a researcher-made questionnaire was used. The Validity of this tool was confirmed from five expertise point view and its reliability estimated /89.
Results
Findings showed that the information literacy competencies of attendance and virtual students were appropriate.
Conclusion
There was no difference between attendance and virtual students in information literacy competencies and their abilities are the same at 1) Determining the extent of information need. 2) Using information effectively to achieve a purpose 3) understanding legal and ethical aspects of information using 4) critical evaluating of information sources.
