Development and Validation of a Questionnaire to Measure Women's Adherence to the Teachings of Islam about Treatment of Spouses

This study aims to develop and validate a questionnaire to measure Women’s adherence to the teachings of Islam about treatment of spouses. Using content analysis, the teachings of Islam about treatment of spouses (related to women) were extracted. evaluation of content validity, construct validity and reliability tests were carried out through survey research via cluster sampling of a statistical population consisting of 374 married women from Isfahan. According to experts, 80 out of 123 originally proposed items had high content validity. In construct validity, using factor analysis, six factors were extracted. The index of sampling adequacy (0. 847) and Bartlett test results showed that the sample size is appropriate for factor analysis. Positive and meaningful correlation of each item of the questionnaire with the total score on the questionnaire as well as positive and meaningful correlation between each factor and the whole questionnaire indicated acceptable construct validity through internal consistency. Based on Spearman - Brown coefficient, Guttman split-half coefficient and parallel forms correlation, internal consistency in the experimental stage and the final stage is meaningful. Alpha coefficient of the first half and the second half in the final stage was 0. 839 and 0.018 respectively. In a sample of 31 participants, the correlation coefficient of test - retest at an interval of one month was 0.927at a significance level of 0.001. Hence the questionnaire has good reliability and validity.
