The Effect of Organizational Structure on Empowerment of Staff of Sport and Youth General Office of Lorestan Province

The aim of this study was to examine the effect of organizational structure on empowering the staff of Sport and Youth general office of Lorestanprovince. The research method was correlation and survey. The statistical population consisted of staff of Sport and Youth general office of Lorestan province (N=58). The sample equaled the population. Organizational Structure standard questionnaire (Robins, 1987) and empowering questionnaire (Abdollahi, 2006) were used. The validity of these questionnaires was approved by 7 sport management professors and their reliability was calculated by Cronbach's alpha coefficient as 0.95 and 0.87 respectively. 52 questionnaires were returned and analyzed. Collected data were analyzed through descriptive and inferential statistics (K-S test, Pearson correlation coefficient and regression analysis). The results showed a significant and reverse relationship between organizational structure and staff's empowerment. Also, organizational structure and its dimensions had a significant and negative effect on empowering. According to the results, it can be said that an organization with more flexibility and less intricacy and formality help empowerment. Thus Sport and Youth general office of Lorestan province should pay special attention to this issue.
