The relationship between environmental education and environmental protection behaviors (Case Study: High school girls in Babol city)

This research examines the role of environmental education in environmental protection behavior of students. The research method in this study was the survey method that uses simple random sampling, 350 high school students from Babol (Mazandaran province) were selected as a sample for study. Required information for this research was collected by using questionnaires and in spring 2012. Research data processed by using SPSS statistical software, where analytical and descriptive statistics were analyzed. The results showed that student's awareness of environmental problems in general is high, and in specific environmental problems is low. Also, there are significant differences, between environmental behaviors in different educational levels, but this difference was not observed among different fields of study. Finally, the findings showed that new environmental attitude has a positive impact on environmental protection behavior, but knowledge and environmental education has little impact on environmental behavior. This research examines the possible reasons for this matter.
