A Study on the Functions of Innovation Intermediary Institutions in the Field of Renewable Energies

Intermediary institutions for innovation that are known as a conventional means of policy-making in the world facilitate the process of innovation in different fields. The purpose of this paper is to identify intermediary institutions in the field of renewable energies at international, regional and national levels. In this regard, first the functions and roles of these institutions have been studied and extracted, then the renewable energies and the importance of innovation in this field have been explained. Afterwards, eight intermediary institutions at different levels of activity (international, regional and national) have been identified and their activities in the field of renewable energies are explained in detail. Finally, those activities that can facilitate the process of innovation as an intermediary function in these institutions have been identified and some suggestions are offered by comparing these institutions.
