Impact of ICT on Women's Participation Rate in the Labor Force

This paper aims to explore the impact of information and communication technology (ICT) on women's participation rate in the labor force as a proxy variable of gender inequality. The number of Internet users and the number of fixed and mobile phone users are used as proxy for ICT variables. Related data of the high, medium and low human development Countries have been collected from World Bank’s Human Development Reporting tables in the period of 2005-2012. The results showed that the ICT development increases women's participation rate in the labor market, which leads to reducing gender inequality.
