Investigation of Baghy Verse in the Holy Quran

One of the important discussions in the book of Jihad is the issue of ahl-I baghy (those who engage in armed struggle). This issue requires an extensive research both concerning its subject matter and its ruling. In the jurisprudence of Imamiyya, most jurists have considered uprising against the infallible Imam ('a) as the only instance of baghy, therefore, they have not discussed this issue of the book of Jihad in detail. Some jurists,
however, have suggested the ruling of Muhariba (fighting) for those who engage in an armed fight against the Islamic ruler. The author believes ahl-I baghy are people who wage an armed struggle against a group of Muslims and/or the Islamic ruler and are not willing to stop. Since the discussions about baghy are extensive, this article has only
focused on the Quranic aspect of the issue and in one part it has compared famous opinions of the Imamiyya Shiite as well as Sunni scholars, especially those who belong to Hanafi and Shafii schools.
