A Pricing Model for Goods and Services Market in the Resistance Economy

Message:
Abstract:
Resistance economy focuses on the domesticated form of Islamic economy, in which its components get crystallized and operated. Resistance economy is, thus, inseparable from Islamic economy, and its actually being achieved depends on that the major components and elements of Islamic economy be known and that the scene be set for their being implemented in accordance with the Iranian society's situation. One of the fundamental topics of Islamic economy which crystallizes in resistance economy is designing a model for pricing goods and services, which has diverse effects on such basic parameters as investment, employment, output, total supply and general price level.
Although, because of the special economic situation of the period after the 1979 revolution and specially that of the wartime, Iranian officials and statesmen used to prefer fixing most of the prices by state command, most Islamic theorists, specially the economists and jurists, considering the jurisprudential arguments and the long-run effects of price-fixing by command, have regarded it harmful to the economy and declared it forbidden.
In this research, using the descriptive-analytical method and considering the jurisprudential arguments, we have examined the issue of price-fixing in the viewpoint of Islamic jurisprudence. The results show that in the usual economic circumstances no one has a right to fix the prices and they ought to be fixed by the market process. However, in the case of hoarding, monopoly and collusion, at first the hoarder or the monopoly gets required to supply the goods. But if it refuses to charge the fair price, it is forced to decrease the price, and if it refuses to supply the goods at the fair price, a particular price would be fixed for it to charge, and in such cases, the relevant jurisprudential official, considering the expert's view, fixes the prices so (just) that it neither harms the seller nor the buyer.
