Developing Favorable Strategies in News Coverage Management of Nuclear Crisis for IRIB TV (According to the scenario of the continuation of sanctions)

The aim of this article is to achieve the most appropriate news coverage management TV strategies in the nuclear crisis by IRIB with emphasis on the said crisis in political subsystems, from an international aspect and at the pre-crisis level. According to the assessment of internal and external conditions and among three possible scenarios, the scenario for the continuation of sanctions was chosen for the study. These strategies allow IRIB, based on the theory of smart power, to prevent Iranian nuclear program from being critical in the future and increase the Islamic Republic of Iran’s power. This research uses the Delphi method and utilizes a three-step strategic model. Therefore, to achieve the research objectives, the expert's viewpoints (IRIB and the State Department senior managers, teachers and elites of political science, international relations, communication and media management) were used. Therefore, the mission and vision of IRIB were determined at first and then, after the evaluation of internal and external factors of IRIB TV, the long term goals and finally favorable strategies were identified and prioritized. The results of this study show that the strengths of TV are more than its weaknesses and the threats of TV are more than its opportunities. Thus, the competitive strategies are the most appropriate strategies for news coverage managing strategies to address nuclear crisis on TV. Finally, competitive revised strategies for TV were prioritized. In the process, the main strategy would be transforming the nuke issue into a nonpartisan, national and even transnational issue through press releases, comprehensive TV programming and documenting on revealing politically motivated international institutions such as the United Nation Organization and the International Atomic Energy Agency as they act against the Islamic Republic of Iran that is compatible with an overactive strategy in crisis news coverage management and smart power theory.
