Political implications of the 1960 Iran land reform in the province of Fars

In the early 1960s a range of social reforms, the so-called "White Revolution", were implemented in Iran by the government during the reign of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi. Outstanding among them was a land reform that put an end to the centuries old regime of land ownership in Iran. This paper examines political implications of land reform in the southern province of Fars.
Methodology/Approach: A combination of library resources and archival documents were examined and analyzed.
Findings: Land reform in Fars was not implemented thoroughly, due to obstruction and sabotage by the government officials and landlords . As a result, large proportions of land remained in the hands of landlords.
