Developing, validating, and normalizing a military morale questionnaire

This research is to develop¡ validate¡ and normalize a military morale questionnaire.
In the first stage¡ after review the related literature a 128 items questionnaire was developed and delivered to 28 experts in this context. The items that 0.67 of experts had recognized as favorable¡ were chosen. Then Brimfield and Ross''s job satisfaction questionnaire and the above mentioned questionnaire were administered on a sample of military cadres of Islamic revolution guards'' corps¡ which were attended in different military training courses held in a military college. Sampling technique was cluster¡ and there were used descriptive statistics (such as¡ frequency¡ mean¡ standard deviation¡ percentage rank¡ Z¡ and T scores) and inferential statistics (such as¡ Pearson correlation coefficient¡ Cronbach''s alpha coefficient¡ Spearman correlation coefficient¡ factor analysis¡ analysis of variance¡ KMO¡ and T test). SPSS 9.5 was used in analyzing data.
Findings showed that the new designed military morale questionnaire had a high validity and reliability (0.98). Results of factor analysis indicated that¡ new military morale scale was made up of four categories: leadership¡ organizational belongingness¡ coping skills¡ and group work. Military morale norms based on age¡ military rank¡ tenure¡ education¡ being married or not married¡ and the position rank are reported too
The extracted categories for military morale are consistent with theoretical considerations about military morale. The new designed military morale scale can be used as an instrument to evaluate personnel''s military morale in different military contexts¡ and in making decisions regarding human resources'' management in military units.
