Happiness from the viewpoints of Aristotle and Ibn Miskeweyh Razi

Abstract:
Questions regarding the concept and proof of "Happiness" are rooted in the nature of human being. The comparison of the judgments of two prominent thinkers in this ground - one is from the Ancient Greece and the other one from Islamic philosophy who was contemporary of Ibn Sina – in comparing Islamic and Greek visions in this relation, is significant. This research – by analytic – comparative method – after some reflection about the philosophic and ethical basis of each, has explored contrast and comparisons of the judgments of these two famous philosophers regarding about of happiness. Briefly, Aristotle with complete attention to the component of wisdom, pleasure and friendship, defines the theory of virtue and happiness consequently about "moderation", but of his ununified view of God and universe and his lack of paying attention to resurrection, is not able to offer a successful model of the concept and proof of happiness. Unlike him , Ibn Meskeweyh who attempts to make clear these meanings based on knowledge of self , wisdom and Islamic Law, divides happiness into two parts of: mundane and other worldly, and defines Gods favour as a real proof to happiness. Also, both thinkers emphasizes on definition of happiness to superior goodness but, they are different to each other in this relation as well.
