Russia and Saudi Arabia, challenges and conflict of interests

According to the historical approaches, worldview and tools used by Russia and Saudi Arabia, there are two major viewpoints about their relationship in the future. The first viewpoint is that: There are several factors and variables in Saudi Arabia and Russia relationships that could lead the two countries toward developing a strategic relationship and the second viewpoint is emphasis that due to the negative experiences in these relationships, Riyadh and Moscow are not able to make strategic relationships with each other. In fact, the relationships between Russia and Saudi Arabia will be faced with challenges and tensions. Considering the importance of the relationship between Russia and Saudi Arabia on Middle East future developments and complications available in relations between Riyadh and Moscow, this article tries to answer this substantial question that: “what matters prevent the development of relations between Russia and Saudi Arabia? “ so the hypothesis of the present discussions has been explained in this way “negative historical experiences, conflicts of interests in Middle East, prevention of America, the low level of trade relations, competition in energy sector, failure in military cooperation and new technologies as well as linking the Saudi Wahhabis with religious extremists and ethnic separatisms in northern Caucasus, are the most important issues that have prevented the development of relations between Russia and Saudi Arabia.
