Environmental Management of Brick Kilns in Zafar Industrial Complex

Abstract:
In developing countries, industries grow annually about 3.6 percent, causing 1.8 percent of the total pollution.One of the causes of pollution are brick kilns that unfortunately use the most suitable agricultural soil. In this paper, the effects of brick kilns has been studied for environmental management of Zafar industrial complex in Maku, west Azarbayjan. For this, pollution outflow from two kilns’ stacks were measured, then the data along with those of the surrouding environment were used in an AHP. The weight and degree of importance of the affective factors were significant showing maximum negative impact on soil and air. Naturally, the industrial unit has also positive effects such as employment and production of building material. Hence, the unit can continue its activties on the condition that it monitors the negative effects and closely pays attention to environmental laws towards a sustainable environment.
