Relationship Between Head Nurse's Management Style and Nurse's Job Stress in Razi Hospital of Qhaemshar, 2014

Job stress has become a common and costly problem in the workplace. Nurses Stress in the workplace is largely influenced by the style of management and leadership. This study aimed to determine the relationship between management styles of head nurses with job stress in nurses.
This cross – sectional study was conducted on 158 nurses selected through census in Razi Hospital of Qhaemshar city, 2014. The instruments were three questionnaires of demographic variables, Steinmetz Job Stress and Bardnr & Mtzvkas Management Style. The data was analyzed by SPSS 16 using Pearson Correlation Coefficient test and one- way analyses of variance.
Findings: The mean score of authoritarian management in low stress group was 60.14, in moderate stress group 76.06, and in high stress group 84.68. The mean score of participatory management was 63.02 in low stress group, 52.04 in moderate stress group, and 43.95 in high stress group.
based on the results, the head nurses use more from authoritarian management style. The level of job stress among nurses due to authoritarian management style of the head nurses was high and the level of stress due to participatory management style of head nurses was low.
