Tourism Sustainable Development and Spatial Planning using HYDRA Metaphor

Abstract:
Due to a common goal, sustainable tourism and spatial planning are considered as a philosophical conjunction for planning concept as the act of organizing future lives of communities by applying regulations and designing future social and economic relationships and considering the application of physical environment in order to achieve humans welfare without environment degradation.
Planning is a multi-covering concept including various stages of national strategic decisions for applied and unique plans. The objective of spatial planning is to recognize the spatial development plans including tourism plans in various stages of planning, designing and management based on the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation in accordance with sustainability, integrity and comprehensiveness principles. Spatial planning focuses on physical planning in various part of tourism. Tourism activities are formed in a particular place, take a spatial personality and include spatial relationships. The main objective of the study is to explain the position of spatial planning in tourism sustainable development. Spatial planning has been simulated to HYDRA, regarding the complex and multi-dimensional nature and equal importance of environmental, physical, social, economic and cultural problems. HYDRA is a mythical creature and a Greek God, having parallel and various heads. Unless his main head was not beheaded, it was able to rebuild himself and fulfill his duty which is safeguarding the river. Regarding the above mentioned concept and having the critics in mind regarding spatial planning and sustainable tourism, this article aims to study the position of spatial planning in tourism sustainable development, using HYDRA metaphor.
