Study culture of patient safety in hospitals Gonabad city in 2014

Improving patient safety culture in healthcare organization is the first step for reducing medical errors and improvement of patient safety. The aim of this study was to investigate the culture of patient safety in hospitals Gonabad city. This was a cross-sectional study and by using a questionnaire of HSOPSC (Hospital Survey on Patient Safety Culture), data were select among the staff. By using collected sampling, 248 medical staff in hospitals of 22 bahman of Gonabad, 15 khordad of Bydokht and ayatollah madany Bajestan were enrolled. Several studies have confirmed the validity and reliability of the questionnaire. Once collected, the data were analyzed using the software SPSS20. Findings show that among twelve dimension of safety culture, continuous improvement (69/26) and explicit communication (28/23) received Maximum and minimum points respectively. In this study, 76/2% of subjects in the past 12 months did not report any error and 50/2 percent of staff were reported immunity status of hospital service acceptablely. The findings showed that some aspects of safety in the hospital need to pay more attention for example to the explicit communication that has achieved the lowest score.
