The Effects of Training Teachers on Effectiveness of Physical Education Courses

Abstract: The purpose of the present research was investigating the effects of teaching on effectiveness of physical education lesson in primary schools. The method of this research was semi-experimental. Three groups of primary school teachers participated in an education program voluntarily. The statistical population included all of teachers of physical education teaching at the first, second, and third grades in Tehran. In this level, 36 teachers were selected through convenience and non-random sampling for selecting the educational districts and the primary schools. In this research, data was collected by two methods including observation and interview. The first method was informed by recording the time spent for a variety of activities in physical education lesson in primary grades. And the second method involved examining the perception of teacher beliefs about teacher training program and perception of teaching situation and also perception of student's beliefs about physical education lesson through interviews. The results showed that after implementing the program the student's participation in class activities indicated an increase and the non- active time decreased.
