Patterns of Margoon Rural Landscape Revitalization to Achieve Sustainable Tourism Development

Rural Tourism is a social and recreational activity which contains a variety of recreation and serenity services that the villagers serve for attracting tourists for economic income. On the other hand¡ rural landscape is one of the richest attractions of rural tourism that consists of natural and human made components. These landscapes faced deterioration and destruction because of their fragile nature. Hence¡ the rural sustainable tourism development (RST) has an important role. Indeed¡ sustainable tourism is a kind of tourism activity that supplies the current needs without endangering future tourists’ needs. This paper used qualitative and case study strategies with an inductive approach. Margoon village in Fars province has dramatic natural attractions with high rate of tourist’s presence that in 1999 registered as a protected area in Iranian Environmental Protection Agency. Unfortunately¡ it suffers from lack of renovation and restoration programs. The qualitative and quantitative results prepared by statistical and field surveys showed the weakness of its current landscape to attract sustainable tourism. So¡ the authors recommended some solutions for this problem as a part of an extended way of dealing with RST. In the end¡ with regard to theoretical topics and case study¡ patterns of rural landscape revitalization have been established. In the recommended chart¡ historical studies (categorizing and documenting existing conditions for preparing developed management plans particularly for all tourism indicators elements) and ecological studies (analysis of landscape patterns and identifying the particular elements of chaos particularly for all tourism indicators elements) led to regulating restoration and conservation programs¡ restoration of the natural substrata¡ restoration of cultural layers and repair of the signs and symbols of cultured landscapes in rural landscape with regard to achieving RST.
