The effect of teacherstudent relationship on educational motivation and research selfefficacy in graduated students of Physical Education and Sport Sciences

Abstract:
The aim of present study was to investigate the effect of teacher student relationship on educational motivation and research self-efficacy in graduated students of Physical Education and Sport Science. Research area was Esfahan province and the sample was all students of higher graduation in Sport Science and Physical education (N=934). Sample size was determined based on Krejcie and Morgan table (n=274) and students were selected by classified random method. For data collection about teacher student relationship, Abedini et al questionnaire (2012), for educational motivation, Herman`s questionnaire (1987) and for research self-efficacy, Garavand et al questionnaire (2013) were used. Facial and content validity of questionnaire was approved by sport management professors and their reliability was approved by Cronbach’s alpha. For analyzing the data collected from questionnaires, structural equation modeling by LISREL software, ver. 8.80, was used. Results show that teacher student relationship with coefficient of 0.45 is effective on research self-efficacy and with coefficient of 0.36 is effective on educational motivation in higher education students of Sport science and Physical Education. Moreover, educational motivation, with coefficient of 0.51, is significantly effective on research self-efficacy. Therefore by improving the relation between teacher and student in physical education field increase educational motivation and research self-efficacy in these students and finally create more than proper status for their education and research.
