The relationship between the use of Persian-language satellite TV channels and Commitment to cultural identity among women in Tehran

Abstract:
This research studied the relationship between the use of Persian-language satellite TV channels and Commitment to cultural identity of women of 15 to 49 years. The research method and means of data collection was cross-sectional survey design. The size of Sample was 400 based on multi-stage cluster sampling in Tehran. Analysis of the research findings showed that the exposure to satellite scale from zero to hundred is equal to 50.64 and average commitments to cultural identity in the same scale is 62.55. And the subjective dimension of cultural identity was 10% more than the objective dimension. Also Iranians who enjoy the use of satellite are less committed to cultural identity. Multivariate regression analysis showed that the satisfaction with satellite, using satellite and addiction to its programs weakens women cultural identity and awareness making content and scientific programs and news strengthen their cultural identity.
