The Do's and Donts Controlling and Supervising the press in Iran

The role and position of the media,in the world today, behooves that, along with its quantitave and qualitave spread, control and supervision over the function of this publicity and informative tool is also taken in to consideration .
For this reason, all the governments try to specify a structure and contrivance for controlling and Supervising the media, including the press, based on the culture, polities and the special characteristics of their society, in order to prevent it from misusing the freedom of speech.
These contrivances should be provided and applied carefully and according to the general principles, in order not to prevent the pressfrom beneficial and constructive activities.
The author of this paper tries to specify the adaotive level of this supervisorty institution with the legal principles and its role in ensuring the freedom of the press in Iran, by studying the structure and the function of the control board of the press and then tries to compare it with the general legal principles .
According to the studies, accepting the necessity of taking legal ground for constituting the press in Iran and assigning widespread powers to the control board of the press, show that the important responsibility of supervising has been granted to an institution that its function is not consistent with the legal principles and accordingly, the system is not able to ensure the freedom of the press.
