A Survey of the Evolutionary Process of Avicenna’s Works on Logic from Nine-Partite Logic to Ten-Partite Logic

There are numerous works on logic by Avicenna (Ibn Sina). With critical scrutiny, one can observe an evolutionary process in these works, both in their content and in the order of the logical subjects. With the aid of those works whose date of development is specified, we can determine how Avicenna’s logic evolved. On this basis, we can divide the evolutionary process to three phases: the first period which is Aristotelian, the middle period which is a departure from Aristotle, and the final period in which Avicenna presents his own account and segmentation of logic. Finally, on the basis of this division, we can find the date of those works on logic for which no date is specified.
