Station of Adam, Father of Humanity

Author(s):
Abstract:
Created from soil and God’s spirit, named God’s vicegerent and God’s choice, Adam (a) was the first human on earth and God’s first messenger. After being expelled from heaven when he was deceived by Satan, Adam (a) went on to live for approximately a thousand years. His grave today is in Najaf, next to Prophet Noah (a) and Amir al-Mu’minin (a).
Adam (a) was God’s successor on earth and a ray of God’s traits. Judaism, Christianity, and Islam narrate similar stories about him. The Qur’an has mentioned him 25 times, and discussed him in detail in six chapters. Interpretations and narrations by the infallible Imams have also mentioned Adam (a).
This article explains the philosophy through which the Father of Humanity (a) and his wife, Eve, were created, and studies their position with God and the angels, verses and narrations on fables of Adam (a), and the status of this prophet in the Qur’an, other divine books, and narrations of the Ahl ul-Bayt (s).
