Tombs of the Offspring of the Imams in the Islamic World

Abstract:
The offspring of God’s messenger (s) were respected and revered by Muslims from the beginning of Islam. In the Qur’an, God has stressed on friendship, kindness, and respect towards them and describes this as the Prophet’s (s) remuneration for his mission.
The offspring of God’s messenger (s), who the Prophet (s) himself always insisted on kindness towards them, emigrated to far places to defend and disseminate Islam, sometimes even being martyred on this path. Their tombs and mausoleums, which can be found throughout Europe, Africa, all the way to India and China is proof for this fact. These tombs have always been respected and revered by Muslims all over the Islamic lands and are remnants of the culture and history of the Islamic civilization. However, in addition to destroying their tombs and stations, hypocrites and corrupt figures attempt to weaken the belief of Muslims in these offspring of the Prophet (s).
This article attempts to elucidate the position the offspring of the Prophet (s) and the position the tombs of these nobilities have amongst the Muslims, and explain the importance and status of their tombs in Islamic lands from various dimensions.
