Modeling of structural relations between job stress, Spiritual attitude and psychological health In NAJA personnel

This study has been carried out in order to investigate the modeling of structural relations between job stress, spiritual attitude and mental health in NAJA personnel.
In so doing, using random cluster sampling a number of 600 individuals were selected from all the personnel of the police force (NAJA). Then these participants were given five questionnaires including: 1) IPSS-A ; 2) SAI ; 3) GHQ-28 ; 4) police’s job satisfaction questionnaire; 5) RSES. A number of 356 questionnaires of all the questionnaires were considered valid for the statistical analysis. To analyse the data, correlation coefficient, path analysis and SEM were employed.
In addition to the investigation of the statistical significance of the correlation coefficients, four models were evaluated, then among which the most appropriate one to be fitted has been selected. Within this model, the variables of self-esteem, job stress and job satisfaction as independent variables; and spiritual attitude as the mediator variable predict mental health as the dependent variable.
The findings of the current study, in line with the all previous findings, have determined the crucial role of the spiritual attitude in explaining the relationship between the job stress and mental health, within the framework of a more comprehensive model. These findings reveal that in order to promote the methods to confront and control the stress generating factors of the NAJA personnel, their spiritual beliefs should be taken into account more seriously.
