Wheat insurance development barriers in Asadabad county

Agricultural insurance can be one of the most appropriate mechanisms for risk management in agricultural sector. The main purpose of this study was analyzing barriers affecting development of wheat insurance in Asadabad county emphasis on administrative and institutional barriers. This study was applied research that based on a correlation-descriptive methodology. The data were collected by questionnaire from wheat farmer's that insured their wheat farm's in 2011. For validity of the questionnaire, opinions of professors and specialists were used. Assessment of the questionnaire's reliability was done by pre-test and data were gathered from 30 samples related to the population. Reliability of the questionnaire was calculated using Cranach’s Alpha and it was 0.86. In this study, statistical population were the all of wheat farmer's of Asadabad county insured their wheat farms during 2010-2011 farming year. To determine the sample size, Cochrane formula was used and the number of 318 wheat farmer's of Asadabad county selected by random sampling. Results of factor analysis show that eleven affecting barriers were extracted that these factors explained 53.17 percentages of total variances of barriers. The eleven mentioned barriers according to amount of explained variance were: administrative weakness, land-related problems, persona-knowledge barriers, institutional uncoordination, lack of human resources and information, management procurement problems associated with tracking compensation discontent, un-satisfy and the expense of insurance and wrong way of compensation assessment.
