A Survey of The Causes and the Consequences of the Slum Areas Formation with Special Attitudes Towards the City of Khomein

The urban squatter settlements is an urban phenomenon which is formed and developed by uncontrolled and irregular urbanization growth in the world and in Iran as well and also by migration from the villages towards the cities. Urban squatter settlements, as an unbalancing factor in the urban physical equilibrium, is a sign of irregular growth in the cities and the regions and many of the urbanization experts, sociologists and architects have dealt with it. In the current study as well, urban squatter settlements in the suburbs of the city of Khomein has been studied. The study methodology in the current study is of applied research type and the information and the data collection is of the scaling type. The study population are the people(384persons) who Lives in the slum areas in the city of Khomein, Iran. The study results show that the migration from the villages to the suburbs of the city of Khomein can be considered as the most important reason for the urban squatter settlements and then the cities hindrances has acted as a barrier for their entrance to the cities. Moreover, the urban squatter settlements feeling does not differ based on the people’s gender and both men and women have the same feeling regarding the urban squatter settlements phenomenon. Also, about the subject of consequences resulting from this phenomenon (urban squatter settlements) it has become cleared that there is a significant and inverse relationship between the tendencies to take part in and urban squatter settlements feelings of these migrates.
