The Understanding of The Quality of The Iranian Society on The Basis of Young Generation's Leisure Time

Modernity is a concept which has been investigated from different aspects. Probc. bLy one the most valid theories in this field is Giddens’s theory. Giddens originally considers modernity as a cultural trend that has arrived new phase and has its own characteristics in all social life aspects. Reviewing Giddens’s theory shows the claims expressing that modernity shows itself in leisure time. It means the time that people shape their own lifestyle and identity reflexively.
This essay investigates this question in a concrete way that on the basis of passing the leisure time among juveniles, to what extent modernity has been institutionalized in our society. Our Objective findings which have been gained by questioning 30 young people from 20 to 30 years old show that modern preferences and desires exist amony young people in Tehran, but material infrastructures and economical conditions for actualizing them don’t exist in the society.
