Human Dignity as the Foundation of Moral Education

One of the most important assets that God has bestowed on man is dignity and human`s virtue which is originated from divine vicegerency. Dignity is related to man`s essential honesty, and virtue indicates his superiority to others. From the religious point of view, dignity is not confined to the essential type only and by nearness to God and piety, man can promote it and acquire more transcendent value; however, according to the verses and narrations, we have to behave towards others based on retaining their inherent dignity. The purpose of this research is explaining the role of human`s dignity in moral education and deducing some guidance for the trainer and trainee. Analyzing holy Quran`s verses, in this paper human`s dignity is considered as the foundation of moral education and by using the deducive method, the principle of the necessity of human`s dignity revelation in moral education and character honoring educational methods, negligence in ethical lapses, retaining the dignity of self and others and admitting to other`s perfections were explained.
