Differences in germination of Datura weed seed mass influenced by different climatic conditions during different seasons

Message:
Abstract:
A field experiment was conducted at Karaj in 2011–2012, to evaluate seeds germination of datura (Datura stramonium L.) under two different climates, Karaj and Shiraz. The treatments comprise of three levels of moisture and four levels of temperature. Analysis of variance for germination tests showed that the main effects and interaction between soil moisture and temperature at the time of burial significantly affected the seeds germination of datura both had. When the seeds are completely at dry conditions, a gradual increase in temperature increases the rate of germination. Of course, this increase was negligible compared with the increase observed in response to the two other levels of moisture levels (H2- H3). No germination was found at temperatures 4 & 7°C, irrespective of moisture levels. While with increasing temperature up to 15 and 23°C, the rate of germination was considerably increased, especially for alternate wetting & drying condition.
