Integration of Information and Communication Technology into the Curriculums in Accordance with NCDI

Author(s):
Abstract:
In this paper, three models for ICT integration into the school curriculums have been introduced. All information for designing these models were gathered through comparative studies, content analysis of NCDI (the national curriculum document of the Islamic republic of Iran), and doing interviews with experts in the curriculum and ICT areas. In two first models (which were analogue Fogarty's threaded model), ICT is considered only as a tool to improve and strengthen the teaching - learning process. The third model was designed according to the mentioned sources, especially NCDI, and was combination of Fogarty's threaded, webbed and nested models. In the latter model, besides the main role of ICT (a tool as promoter and facilitator for education process), it is considered to create and develop the core competencies that are defined with regards to five elements (intellect, faith, morality, practice, and Science) in four realms (relationship with: God, our own, people and creatures) that are mentioned in NCDI. We believe the third one is a more perfect and competent model for educational system of Iran.
