A New Approach to Political Crime Act (2016)

Since the beginning of the legislative process in Iran the political crimes has always been debated. Until the adoption of Political Crime Act in 2016 led to the end of the a hundred year old debate around it. This law has expressed the rule of the political crimes in the Iranian law¡ the leniency regime of the political offenders and the procedure of these crimes. This paper seeks to cheek the unclear rule of the political crime in the Iranian law. Also the leniency regime applied to these offenders will be examined and this result comes that this regime in some cases not only is not leniency¡ but also has set new limits for these offenders. Also the recidivism in the political crimes will be discussed. Eventually the procedure and the publicity of trials in these offenses will be examined.
