Studying Geomorphological Changes of Harirud River and its Impact on International Border

Abstract:
According to the complex process of main bed river movement, erosion in the Harirudborder River and crucial importance of its geomorphic evolution in hydropolitics issues, identifying the geomorphic evolution of this river is regarded nesseccary. Having predicted the trend of geomorphic evolution of the stream channels, one can propose better solutions to the related problems. Quantifying the meanderings of the river from the past and present timed maps and pictures, the amount of the bed river movement can be recognized in both longitude and latitude. The quantification was carried out by Arc GIS package, SPSS and field work. The effect of natural factors such as tectonics, slope amount, the formation of the river and river discharge were also measured so that we can determine the effect of these parameters on the meandering movement. The present study aims at evaluating the morphologic changes of Harirudasa border river bed and investigating the factors affecting these changes. Ultimately, it turned out that a series of environmental and Anteropzhen movements have taken place in the context of Harirud River mostly toward Iran
