Comparison of Early Maladaptive Schemas and Cognitive Emotion Regulation Orphan and Non-orphan Adolescents

The aim of this study was to compare early maladaptive schemas and cognitive emotion regulation between orphan and non-orphan adolescents. It was conducted with a comparative method. Therefore, 100 orphan and non-orphan adolescents (so subjects in each group) were selected through convenience sampling. Yang schema questionnaire short form (YSQ-SF) and cognitive emotion regulation questionnaire (CERQ-Short) from were used for data collection. Data were analyzed by Multivariate Analysis Variance (MANOVA). Results showed that there were significant differences between orphan and non-orphan groups in early maladaptive schemas as well as positive refocusing. The present study revealed that orphan adolescents had high levels of early maladaptive schemas, however, there was no significant differences between two groups in cognitive emotion regulation.
