The Effectiveness of Imagery Rescripting and Reprocessing Therapy on Nightmeres and Suicidal Ideations of Girls with Sexual Abuse

The aim of this research was to investigate the effectiveness of imagery receipting and reprocessing therapy in nightmare and suicidal ideations of girls with the history of sexual abuse. The study design was two groups with pretest-posttest design and control group. Data were collected through Beck`s Suicidal ideation Questionnaire, Krakof`s disturbing dreams and nightmare severity Questionnaire as well as Smuker IRRT therapy Package. Therefore 18 girls with the history of sexual abuse and having and high levels of suicidal ideations and nightmares were selected. The wee assigned in experimental and control groups (9 subjects in each group). Before the intervention-preteits were conducted. Then, the experimental group received 6 sessions individually of IRRT and the control group did not receive any IRRT. Therefore, nightmares and suicidal ideations of both groups were reassessed. Data were analyzed using Multivariate Analyses of Covariance (MANCOVA). Results showed that there were significant differences between both groups in term of nightmares and suicide ideations. Results of the present study are consistent with previous studies suggesting that IRRT has an effective role in the reduction of nightmares and suicidal ideations of girls with sexual abuse.
