The Nature of Mosahabah (=Verbal Collocation) And Its Study in the Holy Quran
Author(s):
Abstract:
The so-called Mosahabah is the collocation of two words which are often go together and a conceptual relation exists between them as well. In contemporary linguistics, such a category is called syntagmatic relation. However, in the works of old scientists such as Sibavayh, Ibn Hosham, Ibn Agheel, Jahez, and Abu-Hilal, some noticeable matters about this issue are found. In this research, we have attempted to explain the history of collocation and the relevant types in terms of uniqueness, word prediction, rules of collocation, its kinds, and importance through a descriptive-analytic method. Moreover, the effect of the environment as well as the evolution of language in the creation and change of collocation has been discussed. Then the collocation types in the Quran will be discussed at two levels: first, at the nominal level containing descriptive, genitive and appositive parts. The last part itself includes the collocation of ÚæÓ and ãÊÇãáÇÊ. Then at the verbal level, the collocation of verb and noun, verb and ÍÑÝ ÌÑ are discussed which are classified into ãÎÊÕ and ÛیÑãÎÊÕ.
