The Formalistic Analysis of Surah Ma arej (Morpho-Syntsctic Semantics-Lexical Analysis)

Abstract:
Formalism is one of the newest schools of literary criticism, appeared in the 20th century. This newly established school’s followers believe that the beauty of an artistic work is primarily dependent on its form and constituents. In the school of formalism, the form of speech is automatically discussed and not as a means of transferring concepts, since the formalists believe that content is not produced unless by the quality of sentences structure as well as the order of words. In this research, on the basis of the foundations of formalism and through an analytic approach, the form and structure of the signs of the Surah “Ma’arej” have been analyzed via both morpho-syntactic as well as lexical appropriateness perspectives. This research aims to explain how the signs form and function are cohered in transferring content as well as affecting readers. Evaluating the results, the authors came to the conclusion that the syntactic and morphological structure of the signs as well as the quality of the application and order of the words and expressions are surprisingly compatible with the whole content of the surah.
