We aimed to compare improve and accelerate of healing process in burn wounds.
Materials and Methods
This study is a clinical trial to determine the effectiveness of Hyaluronic acid and silver sulfadiazine cream in the treatment of burn wounds in Motahari Hospital. Sixty patients with acute burn wound were selected in the two groups. 60 patients were selected as single - blind study and in one area based on the current routine, silver sulfadiazine ointment and in the other area Silver Sulfadiazine cream containing Hyaluronic acid were used. In this study pain and itching were assessing with numeric criteria (0-10), and wound healing was conducted by Visual Analog Scale and then analyzed with Image J program by expert person. The Wilcoxon singed-rank test, paired T-test and Visual Analog Scale were used.
Results
The results of this study show that due to the P-value = 1.000, there is no significant difference in itching with numeric criteria (0-10) between the two groups. Also according to the P-value = 0.317 can be concluded that a significant difference cannot be seen in pain with numeric criteria (0-10) between the two methods. Due to P-value = 0.040, that is lower than 0.050, it can be concluded that there are significant differences between two types of treatment in healing time.
Conclusions
According to the results obtained by the two methods of comparison the combined ointment Silver and Hyaluronic acid with silver sulfadiazine ointment And shorter time in healing time, using of this ointment for burn wound dressing in Grade 2 and 3 is recommended.
