The Therapy and the Therapist

Life and health are the greatest divine blessings given to human, and medical sciences have also a great responsibility to protect and maintain the health. In the shadow of benefiting from health, welfare and comfort will be received in life. Those who gain medical knowledge have high respect in the society. Referring to the religious instructions, one can understand the value and position of medical sciences and those gaining medical knowledge. They apply their knowledge to treat diseases. According to such instructions, Allah (SWT) recommends on his prophets that he see a doctor when he is ill and he not only suffice to praying to Allah (SWT) and asking him to recover from his illness. Finally, he should know that Allah (SWT) will heal him and a doctor is a medium to cure him (1- 3). According to the religious instructions, it is stated that the role and duties of medical teams are to diagnose and prescribe medicines for the treatment of the patients. However, Allah (SWT) will heal you. Moreover, Allah (SWT) considers pain as necessary since there will be no motivation to treat without pain (4). In a hadith, Prophet (pbuh) said: "medicines are a part of destiny, but its effect occurs by Allah's permission (5)." This means that to achieve any goals, we require some facilities and preliminaries without which we cannot achieve the goal; therefore, visiting a doctor and taking medicines are in the chain of facilities and preliminaries which we take advantage of to reach the goal. It is a part of the divine destiny which is paid attention to for the treatment. It is necessary to have aware doctors and reliable therapists along with fair rulers and pious scholars for living in a society as mentioned in religious instructions. As religious scholars play a role in the spiritual life, doctors also affect the maintenance and protection of public health in the society. Both groups are the evidence of Allah’s word with their sincerity and efforts. Allah (SWT) said: "Whoever saves a man from death, it is as if he has made all the people alive."
