Platonism and Aristotelianism in the Medieval Era

In the middle ages, we see a synthesis of classical philosophy and Christian sermons which has resulted in the formation of two major schools of thought in this period. Platonism in the view of Augustine brought about thousand-year-old supremacy of Christian church integrating Plato's theory of Forms and his mysticism with Christian teachings. With the expansion of communication and conflict between Islamic civilization and the Christian one, we can follow the clues of Aristotle’s works in Europe in the so-called ages. So, Platonism was replaced by Aristotelianism which is manifest in the works of Thomas Aquinas. He tries to adjust Christian fideism with Aristotelian rationalism. This rationalism is obvious in every single point of Aquinas’ political philosophy and his quadruple roles.
