Relations between Unconditional and Conditional Accounting Conservatism with Bankruptcy Risk in Companies Listed in Tehran Stock Exchange

Abstract:
There have been numerous theoretical and empirical evidences related to information role of accounting conservatism and it desired impacts in the interests providers of corporate capital suppliers. The main objective of this study was examining the relationship between conservatism conditional and unconditioned conservatism with Bankruptcy risk in companies Listed in Stock Exchange. The study sample included 157 listed companies in during years 2007 and 2012. Results indicated there was not a significant relationship between risk of bankruptcy and conditional conservatism. While, this is inconsistent with the theoretical principles of the research which claimed that risk of bankruptcy reduced unconditional conservatism. Results also showed that conservatism unconditioned reduces the risk of bankruptcy. This finding was consistent with theory and research suggests the benefits of accounting conservatism to protect owners interests in the company whic are facing with bankruptcy.
