Knowledge of Allah in Nahj al-Balagha

Being aware of Allah’s essence and attributes, as much as possible for human beings, is one of the things which is emphasized in religious texts and Allah has put some ways for us to know him, there is the possibility of the knowledge of Allah for humans and even it has a high level in religious knowledge. Knowledge of Allah can be reached from intuitive and scientific ways. Man can have an intuitive knowledge about Allah’s essence and attributes, and acquired knowledge about Allah does not lead man to Allah’s essence and on the other hand, knowledge of Allah needs a tool and the scope of each tool is limited. The present study investigates the following issues in a descriptive-analytical method. These issues are the concept of knowledge of Allah, the role of knowledge of Allah in religious knowledge, different kinds of knowledge of Allah, the ability of acquired knowledge tool in knowledge of Allah, the access scope of human beings to knowledge of Allah, the reasons of Allah’s essence ignorance by human beings, the perfection of knowledge of Allah and human beings’ duty toward knowledge of Allah and also the greatness of Allah based on Nahj al-Balagha.
