The Effect of Nano TiO2 Morphology and Au Nano coating on the cellulose Fabric to Performance of Self-cleaning Properties

Abstract:
In this study, the effect of Au Nano coating and the morphology of titanium dioxide "TiO2" nano particles to improvement of performance of photo-catalytic and self-cleaning properties on the cellulosic substrate was investigated. Au nanoparticles with sputtering method in different times were coated on a viscose fabric. Three different kinds of TiO2 morphologies including spherical, spindle and rod shaped were applied on samples by spraying method. Morphology of samples was characterized by scanning electron microscopy and the self-cleaning properties determined by color intensity and color difference (ΔE). Results showed that Au coating according to its tendency for absorbing excited TiO2 electrons increased the photocatalytic ability. But, its thickness showed no significant improvement in the obtained self cleaning property. The rod shaped TiO2 nanoparticles showed better results in compare with spherical and spindle shaped nanoparticles which can be attributed to its higher surface area in compare with the other two nanoparticles.
