Philosophical Hypothesis of Qualitative and Quantitative Researches in Human Geography
The main purpose of this essay is to compare the philosophical hypothesis of qualitative and quantitative researches in human geography and social sciences. In general we have to approaches in human geography and social sciences methodologically, epistemologically and ontologically. In these two fields the selection of an approach depends on the adopted worldview or paradigm by the researchers. In this article the two approaches to research in terms of nature, goal, method, hypothesis, methods and another aspect of research has been compared. Finally as an alternative the third approach so-called mixed method to resolve the challenges and problems of the two methods has been articulated and proposed.
