Commemoration of Hz. al-'Abbas in India

Al-`Abbas proved a highly influential character in the Karbala episode, hence he has since been the byword of loyalty and fraternity. Due to the stature of his character, everybody who has heard of his deeds has since been attracted to his character, no matter what faith does this devotee might have. His character and career has left its impressive mark on the Indian comminities such that almost everybody, irrespective of their faith, has been attracted to him. The effect is that almost all Indians, whether Muslim, Hindu, or otherwise, venerate him in a variety of ways, e.g. by composing poems in his honor, or distrubting meals to mourners.
